The steaks are high at All Ireland BBQ Butchery Championship
HOSTED by the butchery trade organisation, Butchery Excellence International, the 2019 All Ireland BBQ Butchery Championship is set to take place in Aughnacloy Golf Club on the 13th and 14th June.
Open to all butchers, the competition will see competitors from across Ireland pitted against each other in 11 different meaty classes. From preparing the perfect T-Bone steak to producing a delicious beef brisket, the championship will see entries judged in their raw form for consistent size, appearance and presentation, as well as cooked when it will be marked for appearance, shrinking, texture and flavour on the BBQ.
Rhonda Montgomery, CEO of Butchery Excellence International, comments,
“Following on from the success of the 2018 All Ireland BBQ Championship, we are delighted to be able to host the competition again this year. With a seasonal summer twist, the competition provides a perfect platform for butchers to show off their talent and the craftmanship that goes into their line of work.
“We are lucky to have a superb workforce within the meat industry in Ireland, with highly skilled butchers, and the BBQ Championship is another way for them to come together to celebrate their work, learn from one another, as well as compete for the title of All Ireland BBQ Butchery Champion”
With the application process now open, butchers from across Ireland are invited to compete and showcase their products for the chance to be crowned the All Ireland BBQ Butchery Champion, with runners up titles also up for grabs.
