Congratulations to Keith Walsh from Eddie Walsh & Sons in Donegal Ireland on winning a Gold Medal and being the Overall Runner-Up at the Lifeline Young Butchers International
Cutting and Cooking Competition, Perth, Western Australia.

This local competition in Perth went national in approximately 2005 and international in 2015 and is seen as the premier event with the most history in bringing youth together in friendly professional competition that can lead to the world stage and lifelong friendships.  This event is headed up by Robert Retallick, Head Judge of Apprentice and Young Butcher of the Year at World Butcher’s Challenge and is sponsored by Life Line Perth,

Keith recently competed at World Butchers Challenge Belfast in March and has been in the top 3 of Butchery Excellence Champions of Champions Competition now for 3 years.  He has gained a wealth of experience in the competition world on the World Stage and has certainly earned his recent success of being one of the best Young Butchers in The World.

Rhonda Montgomery, Chief Executive of Butchery Excellence International states “keith has been training for 18 months in preparing for World Butchers Challenge, I had every confidence in his capability to win this competition and therefore I Sponsored Keith to have a second chance at winning the World Title in Australia.  Keith was well supported by his Irish Supporters and Family and I’m sure he will remember this experience for many years to come.  I am very proud of his achievement as Team Manager.”

This trip incorporated visits of local butchers in the Perth Area and a visit to the state American BBQ competition.  This social time gives the competitors a chance to meet other young international butchers and become lifelong friends.

Keith was interviewed during his experience in Australia and states “This achievement will remain in memory for a long time, I still can’t take in that I have won a Gold Medal, I am delighted to have represented Ireland for the second time and to bring a Gold home to Donegal.  Butchery Excellence International have given be the best opportunity a Young Butcher Could ask for and I can’t thank Rhonda Montgomery enough for believing in me and sponsoring me to attend the event in Australia.  Its a great result for Ireland and the Trade.
